Teknaf, Bangladesh: A flag meeting was held between Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Nasaka, Burma’s border security force in Maungdaw town, Arakan State on March 30 at around 2 pm, according to sources from Teknaf.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the border situation and ways to stop smuggling, illegal entry and border crossing, said a close aide of BDR.

Bangladesh was represented by seven BDR personnel led by Company Commander Abul Hossain of Teknaf BDR Battalion No 42.

Burma was represented by 10 Nasaka personnel, including a Nasaka officer, said a trader from Maungdaw Township.

After the flag meeting, two Bangladeshi nationals were handed over to BDR personnel by Nasaka. They had completed their jail terms, he added.

They were identified as Md. Zaker Hussain (35), son of Abu Siddik and Md. Salim (26), son of Abu Taher of Teknaf union in Cox’s Bazar district.
