Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Nasaka (Burma’s border security force) commander of Nasaka Area No. 5 of Maungdaw Township distributed cows to the Village Administration Office (VAO)’s head of said Nasaka area to breed or rear or raise in the village, said one of the village chairmen preferring not to be named.

Chittagong, Bangladesh: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive on July 29, seized over 5,000 Yaba methamphetamines tablet worth Tk 2 million and arrested a drug peddler at the main Police Station in Chittagong, Bangladesh. All the tablets came from Burma, according to a police official.

Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB), formerly known as BDR (Bangladesh Rifles), seized 878 Yaba methamphetamine tablets at the Teknaf border area on July 24 at about 1 pm from a passenger bus going to Cox’s Bazaar from Teknaf, according to a BGB official.

Buthidaung, Arakan State: The prices of essential items including sugar, onions, rice, vegetables, oil, and meat, have increased further in the markets of northern Arakan including Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships, said a trader from Buthidaung Town.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: At present, Nasaka collaborator Ayas is engaged in unruly activities with the help of Nasaka personnel in Nasaka Area No. 6, and the people are suffering from acute difficulties in the area in front of the concerned authorities, said a local elder from the village who prefers not to be named.
