Maungdaw, Arakan State: A fishing agent was admitted to Maungdaw general hospital’s emergency ward with serious stab injures following a fight between two fishing agents in Maungdaw on April 20, according to a local teacher.

The two agents are - Ko Than Khe from Maungdaw block 4, who is the main representative of Western Command Commander and Ko Than Htay, the nephew of wishful presiding monk (Aloutawpay Saradaw) from block 3 in Maungdaw and main representative of Burma border security force (Nasaka).

On April 20, the two agents with their friends had gone to Nasaka area number 7 on Alel Thankyaw sea beach for a picnic. On the beach the two groups began quarreling and one was stabbed, said an eyewitness who went with them.

During the quarrel, the two agents challenged each other and Ko Than Htay stabbed Ko Than Khe in the abdomen. His intestines came out and friends of Ko Than Khe rushed him to the hospital, the eyewitness said.

Seeing Ko Than Khe, a scared Ko Than Htay fled from the spot fearing arrest, he added.

Maungdaw police are searching for Ko Than Htay and has sent a letter to his family members for him to surrender, but till writing this report the police could not arrest him, said an aide of Police.

Ko Than Htay and Ko Than Khe are two notorious agents who use the power of the Western Commander and Nasaka to oppress poor fishermen in Maungdaw for their personal benefit and popularity, said local fishermen.
