Maungdaw, Arakan State: A bridegroom was arrested by the Village Peace and Development Council (VPDC) members in the second week of February for talking to his fiancée in his paternal aunt’s house at about 7:00 am, Hussain, a relative of the victim said.

Rathedaung, Arakan State: Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) demanded an amount of Kyat 3.2 million from two villagers on allegations that they were involved in human trafficking, a close relative of one of the villagers said.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been collecting family lists from the Rohingya community in Maungdaw Township, since February 26 for the year 2009, according to a school-teacher from Maungdaw Town.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) shot dead two Rohingya villagers and injured three others, while they were going to the Khair Para riverside, to load logs into row boats on February 26, at about 5:00 pm. The logs allegedly belonged to the Nasaka, a relative of the victims said, on condition of anonymity.
