Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Military Intelligence (Sarapa) has been extorting money from villagers by doling out illegal indictments, such as holding Bangladeshi mobile phones, receiving money from foreign countries in Maungdaw Township, a schoolteacher from the locality said, on condition of anonymity.

Shapuri Dip, Bangladesh:  Burma’s border security force (Nasaka), seized a Bangladeshi trawler on June 9, from the Bay of Bengal while the crew members were buying fish from fishermen in the Bay, said Habib, a local elder in Shapuri Dip.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: 72 out of  300 Burman setters who arrived in Maungdaw on June 2 from upper Burma to settle in Northern Arakan as part of the ruling junta’s programme, were settled in Laungdon  Natala village on June 5, said a school teacher from Kyein Chanung village.

Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh: Over 2,000 Yaba tablets worth one million Taka were seized by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on the Burma-Bangladesh border yesterday morning from a bus plying to Cox’s Bazaar from Teknaf,a border town in Bangladesh, said our correspondent from Palongkhali.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Unabated heavy rain triggered landslide in the mountains on the Maungdaw – Buthidaung Road, which blocked and completely cutoff traffic on June 7, said a trader from Maungdaw.
