Naikhyongchhari, Bangladesh: Eighteen Rohingya from five families were arrested and pushed back to Burma border on July 15 by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) from Naikhyongchhari, a border town.  The arrested Rohingya have been living there for one year in rented houses, said a local on condition of anonymity.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Burma’s border security force, Nasaka, has fined the village sentries of Maungdaw Township on allegations that they were sleeping, while the Nasaka was patrolling to check the sentry posts on July 15 and 17, according to a village elder.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Burma’s border security force, Nasaka, has seized cattle from Natala (model) villagers of Buthidaung Township, while the cattle were being driven to Maungdaw Township, through a mountain pass, after they were initially stolen from a Rohingya farmer, a local farmer said on condition of anonymity.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taungbro Right and Left of Taungbro Sub-town under Maungdaw Township, U Than Tint, has been collecting toll tax to the tune of Kyat 43.2 million from shrimp project owners of Taungbro Left and Right areas of Maungdaw Township recently, an aide of the police from Taungbro Sub-town said.

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Burma’s border security force, Nasaka, has imposed a fine on villagers, for not submitting guest lists to the concerned authorities between July 5 and 8, according to a local businessman.
