Maungdaw, Arakan State: The authorities of Arakan State have issued orders of not selling pig meat in the markets to prevent the Swine Flu disease from spreading in the area, according to a Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) official from Maungdaw.

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Four refugees from the Burmese refugee camp of Nayapara were brutally beaten up by the local Musoni villagers because they had defeated the local football team by one goal on August 9. The local villagers were unable to control their resentment, after losing the match by a goal to the refugees, a refugee from the camp, who declined to be named, said.

Teknaf, Bangladesh: A refugee woman from the Nayapara Burmese refugee camp was gang-raped by local youths yesterday at about 9:00 pm, while she was returning to the refugee camp from Teknaf, accompanied by her two small daughters, a close relative of the victim said.
