Teknaf, Bangladesh: An unofficial refugee from Leda camp was abducted by local toughs on December 23, while on his way to Nila market, three kilometers from the camp for buying medicines, said a close relative of the victim.

Buthidaung, Arakan State: There was a rare instance of impartiality on the part of Sarapa (Military Intelligence) of Burma’s border security force towards an Arakanese Rohingya youth after a problem occurred on December 7 between an Arakanese Rakhine primary school headmaster and an Arakanese Rohingya betel quid seller of Taung Bazaar in Buthidaung north, Arakan State, said an eyewitness.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) has ordered all village authorities of its towns of Maungdaw and Buthidaung, to apply for colour-coded Citizens Scrutiny Cards (CRCs) before December 30, said a village authority member from Maungdaw.

Ukhiya, Cox’ Bazaar: Off late the police from Ukiya police station, under Cox’s Bazaar district have been arresting Arakanese Rohingya refugees stepping outside their unofficial refugee camps in search of jobs to support their families, said a camp inmate.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been providing money to poor villagers, for agriculture projects, poultry and cattle farms in Maungdaw Township since 2007. But, this money is being siphoned off, said a village elder from Maungdaw town who did not want to be named.
