Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of Bangladesh seized nearly 435 Yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar following a raid on February 26. A Bangladeshi national involved in smuggling was arrested, said a local from Teknaf.

On being tipped off, RAB personnel conducted raids in the evening near Cox’s Bazar bus terminal and arrested a Bangladeshi with 435 Yaba tablets when he was selling it to a medicine shop, he added.

The arrested was identified as Shah Alam son of Abdul Monaf of Cox’s Bazar district.

The RAB personnel were led by camp-in-charge of Chakaria (CIC) Shahidur Rahaman of RAB 7.

A close aide of BDR from Teknaf said drug smuggling is on the increase in border areas and the border security force is trying to check drug trade in Teknaf and along the border.

Later, the arrested smuggler was handed over to the Model Police Station of Cox’s Bazar by RAB. A case was filed, said a local from Cox’s Bazar.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) of Battalion 42 seized over 2 kilograms of heroin and arrested two people from Soudi bus on February, 25 while it was traveling to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf, sources said.
