Maungdaw, Arakan State: An ex-village authority official and businessman framed his business partner from Bangladesh as a robber and handed him over to the authorities on March 10, said a village elder from Maungdaw.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: On April 2, Major Aung Hin Zaw, the Commander of Nasaka Area No. 3 of Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) ordered residents to vacate a village within twenty seven days without giving any reason, said a Naska aide who asked not to be named.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Burma’s border security force, the Nasaka, has been forcibly collecting money from villagers of Naribill Village of Maungdaw Township since March 30 for the barbed wire fence being constructed along the Burma-Bangladesh border, said a local businessman who declined to be named.

Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazaar: Burma’s border security force (Nasaka), imposed a curfew on March 25 in Nasaka Sector No. 3 of Maungdaw Township from dawn to dusk. It is believed the curfew is a result of fears that materials used for building a fence along the border with Bangladesh are at risk for being stolen, said a source close to the Nasaka.
