A woman was was trampled to death by wild elephants as she was herding her cattle from a grazing field back to her nearby village in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State on the evening of 28 August.

A Rohingya man was arrested for allegedly using a Bangladeshi mobile phone by Burma Border Guard Police (BGP) in Maungdaw, Arakan State according to Juhar from Aley Than Kyaw Village.

Eleven European Rohingya organisations have denounced the Election Commission's decision to ban Rohingya candidates from standing for parliament as undemocratic according to a 28 August statement from the organisations.

Twelve villagers from Maungdaw North in Arakan State have been held at Maungdaw Police Station on suspicion of murder since 22 August when they were arrested by the Burma Border Guard Police (BGP), according to Hakim, a villager.

The Burmese Ethnic Armed Organisation (EAO), the Arakan Army (AA) ambushed a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol in the Big Modak area of Thanchi in Bandarban, Bangladesh on 26 August at about 9:30 am.
