Teknaf, Bangladesh : Burma ’s Border Security Force (Nasaka) handed over 23 Bangladeshi prisoners to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on December 27, after flag meeting at Maungdaw town, Arakan State , according to official source.


They were arrested by Nasaka from Naf River and zero line of Burma-Bangladesh border while cutting wood.  After that, they were jailed in Burma .


A flag meeting was held at Maungdaw Town of Arakan State, between BDR and Nasaka on last Wednesday. After successful flag meeting, the Nasaka handed over 23 Bangladeshi prisoners to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR).


According to BDR source, Lt Col Kaiser, the commanding officer of 23 Rifles Battalion of Teknaf accompanied by Major Azahrul Islam led the 12-member delegation from Bangladesh side, while the delegation of Burma side led by Assistant Director of Immigration of Burma.


Though the delegation of Bangladesh submitted a list of 24-Bangladeshi prisoner, but, the Nasaka handed over 23 Bangladeshi prisoners to BDR.  After receiving 23 prisoners, the Bangladesh team returned to their home because one of the Bangladeshi prisoners was died in Burmese custody, according to official source.
