Teknaf, Bangladesh: Smuggled goods worth Taka two crores were seized by Bangladesh authorities in operations spanning the last 20 days. The goods were being brought in illegally from Arakan State Burma, reports our correspondent.

The Subedar, Nir Mor San, Camp-in-Charge of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in collaboration with the customs and the police, led the raids. They operated jointly along the border of Teknaf Township and seized around Taka two crore worth of smuggled goods such as--- fishing nets, wine, battery, timber, tonics, cosmetics, longyi and other kinds of clothing.

The goods were seized on the road from Teknaf to Cox’s Bazaar from microbuses, jeeps, buses and taxi. Most of the goods were seized in Dom Dom Meah and Marissa check-posts under the Teknaf Township, Cox’s Bazaar District, Bangladesh.

Smuggled goods were also seized from trawlers and fishing boats while they were entering Bangladesh from Burma through the along the Naf River.
