Teknaf, Bangladesh: More than 20 Burmese nationals are stranded in Teknaf since July 6 as the Burmese authorities closed the border exit and entry points on the Maungdaw-Bangladesh border, said a stranded trader.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Security was tightened by the Burmese Army in Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Sittwe (Akyab) and Kyaukpru townships in Arakan State, Burma yesterday on the occasion of the 1988 democracy uprising day to avoid untoward incidents, said a source close to the army.
