Teknaf, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) seized about 6,750 birth control injections (Depo Probera) from Leddha village in Teknaf, Cox's Bazaar district in Bangladesh when it was being smuggled to Burma on August 25.

The operation was led by Major Azharul Islam, 2nd Commander of Bangladesh Rifles Battalion No. 23 in Teknaf. He was accompanied by operation officer Roysul Moni and other out post commanders along with BDR personnel.

On the same day, the BDR also seized 25 bottles of beer and seven bottles of liquor from Saparang union in Teknaf upazila, said a local.

The BDR also arrested two women with six kilograms of marijuana on August 24 night at the check post in Dum Dum Meah. The women have been into smuggling for a long time, according to a BDR official. 

The women have been identified as Rashida Begum (24), wife of Yunus and Kurshida Begum (25), wife of Abdu Rahim, hailing from Purana Palong Para (village) of Teknaf union.
