Maungdaw, Arakan State: The commander of Nasaka area No.4 of Maungdaw Township fined a referee of a football tournament kyat 50,000 on March 16, on the allegation that he was taking side of one of the teams, said a football player of the locality.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) Chairman Myint Maung of Maungdaw Township has slapped a fine of kyat 200,000 for renovation of a veranda of a mosque on February 8, said a mosque committee member.

Following the Indian government's restriction of rice import to Bangladesh the advisers' Committee on Public Purchase on March 13 approved two tender proposals for the import of more 20,000 metric tons of non-boiled rice from Burma. This is part of the government's bid to control soaring rice prices after facing trouble with India, according to official source.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The authorities in Maungdaw Township, in Arakan State, fined kyat 20,000 per 0.40 acre to farmers who did not grow beans and who grew it  but  failed  in their farming activity after the paddy season was over last year.
