Maungdaw, Arakan State: In a daring act, Natala villagers (model villagers) of Loun Don, Maungdaw Township looted gold ornaments from family members of Nasaka personnel on April 15. The victims were returning to Nasaka area No. 4 from Nasaka Area No. 5 after attending the water festival (water pouring) at sunset, said a close aide of Nasaka.

Kyaukpru, Arakan State, Burma: Army personnel and concerned authorities of the Kyaukpru central water pouring centre clashed when soldiers were splashing water in the centre. One person was seriously injured and two others received minor injuries yesterday (the second day of the water festival), said a local in Kyaukpru.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Burmese military junta authorities warned villagers of Taungbro Sub-township in Maungdaw, Arakan State, yesterday not to cast the "No" vote in the ensuing constitutional referendum to be held on May 10. If the villagers cast votes against the regime the country will be overtaken by hardships, they cautioned, said a source close to the police.

The State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) has imparted training on the referendum to family members of TPDC, United Solidarity and Development Association, or USDA, People's militia, women's affairs, fire bridge and township municipalities from April 9 to 11, said a local teacher in Minbya.

Sittwe, Arakan State:  The Village Peace and Development Council (VPDC) Chairman U Aung Myint accompanied by 200 workers destroyed the shop of a NLD member of Sittwe and looted all the goods on April 7. The reason---he had actively participated in the saffron revolution last year, said a source close to authorities in Sittwe.
