Maungdaw, Arakan State: A Burma's border security force, Sergeant from "Lat Pua" Nasaka camp of Nasaka area No.3 in Maungdaw Township fell into a river and died on July 3. He was crossing a bridge made of bamboo over the "Lat Pya" river, according to official sources.

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  The police and Ward Peace and Development Council (WPDC) authorities in Maungdaw Town jointly extorted Kyat 600,000 in May from a bridegroom alleging that he had not submitted a guest list to the authorities, said a relative of the victim on condition of anonymity.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: A number of civil servants from the Rakhine community were transferred to Burma proper from northern Arakan State in June 2008. The military junta plans to scale down civil servants of the Rakhine community in Arakan State, said a local elder of the community in Maungdaw town on condition of anonymity. Teknaf, Bangladesh: Unofficial Rohingya refugees from Dum Dum Meah makeshift camp have been transferred to the new Lada camp. The transfer was at the initiative of the authorities since July 1. Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Two Rohingya youths and two Natala girls from Maungdaw Township in Arakan State fled to Bangladesh on June 27. They were said to be in love, according to our correspondent.
