Teknaf, Bangladesh: A smuggler was arrested with birth control pills by the police and a row-boat with liquor was seized by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on the Bangladesh-Burma border on July 4.  According to sources, the birth control pills were brought to Teknaf from Chittagong to be smuggled to Burma by Nurul Islam (80), son of late Umar Habbas. On bring tipped off the police, led by Sub-Inspector Muzenmal Hoque, raided and seized 200 birth control pills, Depo injections and 1000 kinds of tablets from Baharsara in Whykong, under the Teknaf police station.

On the other side, the same day, BDR seized 42 bottles of liquor from the entry points of Shaparang and Nayapara under Teknaf union while it was being brought into Bangladesh illegally, but nobody was arrested, said a source close to BDR
 Similarly, the BDR of Nila Border out-post (BOP) also seized three bottles of liquor along with a row-boat from the entry point of Nila, but, no one was arrested.  However, the BDR and police have filed cases in the Teknaf police station, sources said.
