Dhaka, Bangladesh: Burmese groups in exile demonstrated outside the Burmese embassy in Dhaka yesterday at 10:40 am on the first anniversary of the September 2007 saffron Revolution in Burma.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Persecution of the Rohingya community in Maungdaw Township by the district police is increasing and becoming unbearable, said a trader from Maungdaw Town on condition of anonymity.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: A man was arrested on August 1, and detained for nearly a month by Nasaka, Burma's border security force for constructing a house even though he procured permission from the authorities. He was released later after officers extorted 2.5 million Kyat, said a relative of the victim.

Teknaf, Bangladesh:  World Peace Day was observed in a Burmese refugee camp from 9 am to till noon yesterday. A rally was held in the refugee camp, said a Majee (shed leader) of the camp.
