Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) Chairman of Maungdaw town has forced villagers to buy tickets for a play through Village Peace and Development Council (VPDC) members since last week, said a local trader on condition of anonymity.

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Seven people were injured in a trailer accident in Taman Thar-Bawli Bazar road in Maungdaw Township while going to Bawli Bazar from Taman Thar village on January 5, at about 4 pm, according to a local villager preferring not to be named.

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Nearly a kilogram of heroin worth Taka 10 million was seized from a bus by the police and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on January 5, at noon while it was going to Teknaf from Cox's Bazar. It was seized before reaching the Teknaf bus station Bawrotali, said our correspondent from Teknaf.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Land-survey clerks in Maungdaw have been extorting money from landowners in Maungdaw Township since the beginning of this month through a new method of surveying the lands all over again, said a schoolteacher in the locality.

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Nasaka, Burma's border security force, looted money from passengers while they were going to Maung Nama village from Nari Bill (Kyauk Pyin Seik) in Maungdaw Township on January 4, at about 6 am, said a local elder on condition of anonymity.
