Mr. Abul Hussain, a Rohingya Village Headman of Nazir Para also known as Nazi Yowa of
Akyab ( Sittwe ) city, Arakan state, western part of Burma was fined Kyats.10,000 by Military Intelligence ( MI ) personnel of MI No.10 stationed in Akyab on 12th July 2002 for reporting looting of MI personnel,said a local trader.
According to the local traders and villagers of the area, a MI personnel named Thath Tu of MI No.10 of Akyab Station and his accomplice namely Maung Sein Hla (a local Rakhine) for long time frequently enter the Nazi Para which is an outskirts of Akyab city and loot the fowls and vegetables from the villagers. But, on 12 th July, 2002, the aforesaid culprits again entered the village and normally continued their looting. This time the villagers couldn’t bear with them and sent their headman straight to the higher authorities of MI office to complain and apprise the matter, the villagers further said. After hearing the complains the authorities told him, “ How you Kala dear to complain against MI personnel?” The MI officer then detained Abdul Hussain accusing of defaming MI personnel and ordered his men to torture him. Later he was released when he paid Kyats 10,000 as bribe to the officer, they further added.
